Objective Based on an agreement between CONARE and the DAAD, university lecturers from the four universities Universidad de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional, Universidad Estatal a Distancia and Universidad Técnica Nacional receive funding to obtain further qualifications in Germany with scholarships for Master's and doctoral degrees. Who can apply? University lecturers from the Costa Rican universities Universidad de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional, Universidad Estatal a Distancia and Universidad Técnica Nacional What can be funded? Master's and doctoral degrees Duration of the funding 24 to 48 months Master: Scholarship awards are granted for a maximum of two years. In order to receive further funding at the end of each academic year, the student’s academic achievements to date must indicate that the degree programme will be successfully completed within a reasonable period of time. Therefore, proof of academic progress must be submitted to the DAAD annually. PhD: Scholarship awards are initially granted for three years. To continue receiving funding at the end of each funding year, the academic achievements to date must, as demonstrated in an annual progress report, indicate that the doctoral or research project is likely to be successfully completed within a reasonable period of time. If a doctoral scholarship is awarded for three years, an application for an extension must be submitted for a possible fourth year of funding.
