Objective The STEP Scholarship Programme, funded by the European Union, aims to facilitate access to and successful completion of post-secondary technical education for vulnerable Jordanian youth while enhancing their skills through additional development opportunities. Ultimately, the programme seeks to enhance beneficiaries’ employability through the acquisition of relevant labour market knowledge, education, and skills. DAAD will facilitate access for up to 130 vulnerable youth in Jordan through an inclusive scholarship scheme. This initiative aims to address financial barriers and promote gender equality and inclusion of people with disabilities, with a focus on students from the northeast and southern regions, which are among the most vulnerable areas in Jordan, starting from the academic year 2026/2027, across three different partner universities and community colleges Balqa Applied university, Al al-Bayt University and Tafila Technical University in the following fields: Renewable Energy, IT, Smart Agriculture, Hospitality, and Nursing. The scholarship program is aimed at vulnerable Jordanian students who would like to complete a technical intermediate diploma degree at one of the partner universities in Jordan. Who can apply? You can apply if you are between 18–21 years old and have completed your Tawjihi certificate in Jordan with a minimum GPA of 65% in one of the following BTEC fields: Renewable Energy, IT, Smart Agriculture, Hospitality, and Nursing. Applicants must also be beneficiaries of one of the following aid funds: Tkiyet Um Ali, National Aid Fund, or Zakat Fund. What can be funded? You must select at least two of the listed STEP programmes: STEP List of Programmes. Selected applicants will be awarded a fully funded technical intermediate diploma degree for two years in one of the following fields: Renewable energy, IT, smart agriculture, hospitality, and nursing. Scholarship holders will benefit from an additional measure designed to further strengthen their practical skills, employability, academic development, and international exposure (in-country internships or regional mobility opportunity) Skills development activities and workshops designed to strengthen scholars’ employability skills and technical knowledge. Duration of the funding Funding is provided for 2 years (24 months) for a maximum of 6 academic semesters. After each semester of study, your academic achievements will be assessed. If this shows that you will successfully complete your programme within a reasonable period, the scholarship will continue as planned. The grant is non-renewable. Value Selected applicants will receive the following benefits (in euro): • Coverage of tuition fees (including one-time admission fees) for a period of two years (up to 6 semesters), will be transferred directly to the host institution • 100 € monthly living allowance • up to 90 € travel allowance (based on the applicant's place of residence) • 500 € housing allowance, upon application (including living allowance, if the selected university is located outside the applicant’s place of residence) • 250 € study allowance once per semester • Tablet device Please note that the amounts are subject to change. Selection Only complete applications with all mandatory documents will be considered. Incomplete applications will be excluded for formal reasons. If your selected programmes in your Unified Admission do not match your selected programmes for STEP, your application will be rejected. A pre-selection will be made based on the submitted application documents, taking into account the high school GPA (Tawjihi) and the quality of the application. The pre-selected applicants will be invited to an interview with an independent selection committee composed of university teachers and representatives from the private sector /labour market to assess the applicant’s potential and motivation. The interview will take place on site. The personal interview is a decisive element in assessing the authenticity of the application and the individual qualities of the applicants, ensuring an appropriate evaluation. If your score meets the required minimum, you will receive a conditional acceptance. The scholarship will be confirmed once the Unified Admission Unit results are announced. Priority will be given to applicants from the South and North regions, while applicants from other regions will be placed on a reserve list for consideration depending on availability of remaining slots. Following selection criteria must be fulfilled: • Qualification • school-leaving certificate • If applicable, relevant internships or work experience • Quality of the study project • Quality of the preparation (preliminary information, contacting the host institution) • Motivation for the participation in the programme (subject-related and personal reasons for the planned study project, preparation) • Study goals (academic relevance, career prospects) • Potential of the applicant • Motivation: Other knowledge and skills outside one's own area of expertise; extra-curricular knowledge and skills (e.g. through professional or voluntary activities, further training) • Perspectives: Assessment of the professional goals • Non-academic activities: Political, social, cultural, family (parental or care time etc.), social commitment/civic engagement Further information STEP List of Programmes.
