The European Master in Biological and Chemical Engineering for a Sustainable Bioeconomy (Bioceb) aims to contribute to the global ecological transition through a 2-year all-in-English joint master programme. In line with the European Green deal, it addresses the needs for scientific experts sharing a holistic vision of the Bioeconomy, based on sustainable use of biological resources and promotion of circular economy. It offers a modular fork-type study scheme with five tracks jointly steered by five European Higher Education Institutions (HEI): - National Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences (AgroParisTech) / Université Paris-Saclay (FR) - University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (FR) - Aalto University (FI) - Tallinn University of Technology (EE) - University of Liège (BE) Thanks to a core staff of 50 teaching and administrative members and the support of 17 associated partners, Bioceb provides a high level education in biology, chemistry and biotechnology, combined with knowledge of bio-based products markets, and value-chain assessment. The students have the choice to specialise in bioprocesses and up-scaling, biomass engineering, or materials and biopolymers. A pillar of Bioceb innovative pedagogy is the Green Line Project, a 3-semester research project carried out in group with a multi-partner co-supervision. The graduates’ professional insertion is favoured by a cross-cutting training in interculturality and creativity, entrepreneurship and communication, with international career opportunities in research and development, innovation management, knowledge transfer, consulting and business development. Since its launch in 2019, Bioceb has settled its position in the Bioeconomy landscape and already attracted international talents in European HEIs, research organisations and companies. The wish is now to further increase its global impact and pursue its commitment to sustainability, with more emphasis on social responsibility.
