About 600 scholarships a year for high-achieving domestic and international students starting a Master by Research or PhD at the University of Melbourne. They cover full tuition fees (up to two years for a research master's, four for a doctorate), a living allowance of A$39,500 a year (2026 full-time rate) for up to two or 3.5 years, a A$3,000 relocation grant for students moving from overseas, and single Overseas Student Health Cover. There is no separate application: applicants to a graduate research degree who apply by the course's closing date are considered automatically. Stipend scholarships go to the candidates ranked highest on prior results and research potential, and offers arrive around the same time as course offers.
