Long-term projections indicate that, if population ageing is left unaddressed, the public sector finances will come under increasing pressure over the next 50 years due to rising age-related spending. Thus, demographic and economic indicators position the biology of ageing as one of the big challenges for scientific research nowadays. The EMJM International Master in Biology of Ageing (IMAgein) mission is to educate in the field of biology of ageing the future generation of excelling scientists, translational researchers, entrepreneurs and professionals who have the skills and competences to work effectively in different multi-/interdisciplinary and internationally competitive academic and private sector environments. IMAgein empowers its students to become the next generation of leaders in Biology of Ageing research and industry, implementing innovative solutions to 21st century societal challenges in Ageing health. Given the breadth of the subject of Ageing we need to combine the complementary expertise in different universities to assemble a rounded educational package, with added value. IMAgein Joint Programme gathers the expertise of five European universities, harbouring poles of excellence in research and academic programs on ageing biology, namely: Université Côte d'Azur, University of Cologne, Sorbonne Université, University of Seville and University of Coimbra. IMAgein students (25 per master edition) will be part of an elective group learning from lead researchers and stakeholders. Besides a robust theoretical training, which will give students a broader vision of Ageing Biology, our joint programme provides unique opportunities of international mobility, to acquire state-of-the-art knowledge, to develop cutting-edge technical and soft skills through both curricula offer at each partner and joint education. IMAgein aims at contributing to tackle the health negative consequences associated to the European demographic change towards an aged population.
