Recognising the need for high-quality security experts, the Erasmus Mundus International Master in Security, Intelligence & Strategic Studies (IMSISS) offers a 2-year integrated degree programme that engages with theoretical, empirical and applied understandings of five major security studies themes: (1) Emerging Technology & Digital Resilience, (2) War, Conflict & Peace Studies, (3) Radicalisation, Terrorism & Organised Crime, (4) Intelligence, Strategic Planning & Public Diplomacy, and (5) Human & Environmental Security. These themes reflect complex interlocking political, economic, technological, social, and cultural challenges impacting both state and non-state actors. IMSISS students collaborate with programme teachers to co-create individual learning journeys, tackling intellectual questions and policy and ethical dilemmas related to threats like interstate and civil war, terrorism, pandemics, resource scarcity, and technological advancements. This 120 ECTS programme includes courses, a dissertation, internships, and summer schools where students learn methods and tools for advancing security, such as intelligence gathering, critical analysis, diplomacy, and strategic communications. They also develop skills relevant to security careers through language, data science, and intercultural competency training providing students with a broad understanding of the multi-dimensional security reality for states, society and businesses operating within an increasingly interdependent and volatile world. IMSISS degree-awarding partners are the University of Glasgow, Dublin City University, Charles University, University of Trento, and University of Belgrade. Key associate partners include OTH Regensburg (Germany), Temple University (USA), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and the American University in Dubai (UAE). Students benefit from the expertise of other associate academic and practitioner partners worldwide, addressing key security issues of our time.
