Large Scale Accelerators and Lasers
LASCALA Erasmus Mundus consortium
Deadline not listed
The LASCALA master's programme is designed to train experts in cutting-edge experimental and theoretical methodologies in accelerators, high-power lasers, gravitational wave detectors and their applications in science and society. Graduates will acquire the skills to innovate and contribute to large-scale facilities, which represent the most collaborative projects in European and international science. This programme responds to a growing demand for highly skilled scientists and engineers, equipping them with advanced technical expertise, transferable skills, and the ability to promote European standards in their respective fields. The curriculum offers a combination of lectures, tutorials, and R&D-based training. The programme is supported by the expertise of five leading academic institutions: Paris-Saclay University (France), Salamanca University (Spain), Lund University (Sweden), Szeged University (Hungary), and La Sapienza University of Rome (Italy). Strong partnerships with research and innovation centers, academic institutions and companies across Europe, North America and Asia provide students with extensive networking and career opportunities. The first semester is hosted by either Paris-Saclay University or Salamanca University, while the second semester takes place at Lund University or La Sapienza University. A mandatory summer school focuses on managing large-scale scientific projects. In the second year, students can choose to specialize further at Paris-Saclay University or Szeged University in one of the following areas: • Atto-/femtosecond science • Accelerator for particle physics or synchrotrons and free electron lasers • Laser plasma acceleration • Gravitational wave detectors • High-power laser interaction with plasma The programme concludes with a professional internship in an academic or R&D laboratory.
