A fellowship for every student on the Yenching Academy's interdisciplinary master's in China Studies at Peking University, taught in English. It covers tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend, one round-trip fare and field study costs. About 120 scholars join each year, around 75% of them international. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in any field (or to finish one by August of the year they enrol), an outstanding academic record, a strong interest in China, and a record of leadership and community engagement. The online application needs a personal statement (up to 750 words), a statement of research interest (up to 1,500 words), a CV, transcripts, diplomas and two letters from full or associate professors in the intended field. English tests (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 100 or equivalent) are waived for native speakers and graduates of English-taught degrees. International applicants must be non-Chinese citizens; students of partner universities apply through their university's pre-selection first. Applications for the 2027 cohort opened on 1 September 2026 and close on 30 November 2026 at 9:00am Beijing time.
